On the Charts: Drake, Future Take 'What a Time' to Number One

Drake and Future each scooped up their second Number One album of 2015 as the rappers' surprise joint mixtape What a Time to Be Alive cruised to the top of the Billboard 200 despite heavy competition. What a Time to Be Alive sold 375,000 total copies in its debut iTunes-only week – the third highest-selling debut week of 2015 – to claim victory over the six other new releases that entered the Top 10, Billboard reports. Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late – which scored the highest-selling debut week of 2015 – and Future's DS2 also topped the charts this year.

Lana Del Rey's Honeymoon finished a distant second with 116,000 total copies as the unscheduled arrival of What a Time to Be Alive deprived the singer of her second consecutive Number One album. The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness – which spent three weeks in the top spot – dipped to Number Three, where it was followed by Mac Miller's GO:OD AM at Number Four and David Gilmour's Rattle That Lock at Number Five. For the Pink Floyd guitarist, his first solo LP in nine years sold 71,000 total copies to give him the highest debuting album of his solo career.

Taylor Swift's 1989, the charts pacesetter since its release in October 2014, actually popped up twice in the Top 10 as Ryan Adams' 1989 covers album joined Swift in the upper echelon of the Billboard 200. Adams' rendition of Swift's latest debuted at Number Seven with 56,000 copies, while Swift's original version neighbored Adams' interpretation at Number Eight with 42,000 total copies sold.

Filling out the Top 10 were Shinedown's Threat to Survival at Number Six, Luke Bryan's Kill the Lights at Number Nine and Christian rapper Andy Mineo's Uncomfortable at Number 10.
