Lauryn Hill to Host, Headline Inaugural Diaspora Calling Festival

Lauryn Hill and Tidal X will host a new music and art series, Diaspora Calling!, at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, April 13th through 15th.

The event will highlight the work of artists and musicians from Africa and throughout the African diaspora, with a special focus on art and artists from Haiti and a music slate organized by Hill, who will also perform.

The music portion of Diaspora Calling! begins April 15th where Hill is turning her sold-out concert into the inaugural Diaspora Calling! Music Festival. It will feature performances from Machel Montano (Trinidad), Stephen "Ragga" Marley (Jamaica), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Mr. Eazi (Nigeria), EL (Ghana), Wondaboy (Nigeria), JoJo Abot (Ghana) and Paul Beaubrun (Haiti). Friday's concert will be livestreamed pre-paywall for fans and subscribers on Tidal.

As for the art fest, the Kings Theater lobby will be turned into a gallery featuring a variety of contemporary artists with a special focus on Haiti. The gallery was curated by Hill with the help of Brooklyn's Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, Nader Haitian Art and the Haiti Cultural Exchange

Hill will host a private opening reception for the gallery on April 13th, which will also feature DJ sets from DJ Spinna, DJ Juls and others. The gallery will be open to the public on the 14th and 15th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET as well.

Ticket information is available on Hill's website, while exclusive Diaspora Calling! content is available via Tidal.
