Ice Cube George Clinton Tyler the Creator Lead AfroPunk Lineup

Ice Cube, George Clinton and Tyler the Creator are set to headline the annual AfroPunk NYC Festival this year, which will take place on August 27th and August 28th at Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene.

TV on the Radio, Flying Lotus, Janelle Monae, Angel Haze, Kelela, Benjamin Booker, the Internet and Earl Sweatshirt are also slated to perform at the two-day festival. There will also be a superjam featuring members from Bad Brains, Fishbone and Living Colour. The 60 acts performing at this year's fest will also take over a new third stage titled Brainfeeder & Soulection.

This year's festival will have an official theme: "Power to the Party." The theme pays tribute to not only the "feeling" and "energy" of power but the "oxymoron" of party, which can mean both "a gathering of many for a shared purpose" as well as "an outcast individual," as detailed in a statement.

Plus, the festival will continue with its paid and earned ticket program that launched last year, allowing the "AfroPunk Army" the opportunity to volunteer for admittance. There is a minimum of eight hours of volunteer work for one general admission weekend pass at any partnering program. Last year, 16,000 fans participated in the program. Tickets for the festival are available now on AfroPunk's website.

Last year, Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones and Lauryn Hill headlined the music and arts festival. It was preceded by the pre-festival party Fancy Dress Ball featuring Jones, Cakes Da Killa and Mike Q which raised money for the AfroPunk Global Initiative.
