Carrie Underwood Joins Keith Urban's Australian Tour

Eight years after teaming up for their Love Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride tour, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood are gearing up for another round of shared shows. This time, they're heading overseas to Australia, where the two will close out the year playing arenas in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane.

The news arrives days after the pair's performance of the Stevie Nicks song "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" during last week's American Idol finale. Coincidentally, Urban and Underwood tackled the same song during their Whole Crazy Carnival Ride tour in early 2008, with Urban — playing the part of Nicks' duet partner, Tom Petty, while also covering Mike Campbell's signature guitar leads — welcoming Underwood back to the stage to cover the song halfway through his headlining sets. There's also a new Urban/Underwood duet on Ripcord, Urban's long-awaited follow-up to Fuse, which hits stores May 6th.

"I've always loved singing with her," Urban said in a statement. "We had written this song, 'The Fighter,' that needed a female voice and Carrie's voice immediately came to mind. I can’t wait for people to hear it — and hope that we get to do it live."

For Underwood, the two-week run of Australian shows will round out a busy year spent on the road in support of 2015's Storyteller. Urban, meanwhile, will team up with Vince Gill for tomorrow's annual All for the Hall benefit show in Nashville before kicking off an extended tour in support of Ripcord on June 2nd. The Australian dates, which span half the length of December, add an international leg to what is otherwise a cross-country trek.
