Brooks & Dunn to Receive Nash Icon Award

When Brooks & Dunn announced in 2009 that they would no longer record or tour, they were the best-selling duo in country music history — a feat still unsurpassed as of today. On May 1st, pair of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn will be honored with the Nash Icon Award during the 2016 American Country Countdown Awards.

The pair, who scored country hits with "My Maria," "Brand New Man," "Neon Moon" and many others, will be presented the honor by their longtime friend Reba McEntire. In 2014, McEntire was presented with her own Nash Icon Award during the inaugural ACC Awards. McEntire and Brooks & Dunn also have plans to return to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in May for their special engagement, Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas, which has sold out 18 shows to date.

Additionally, Brooks & Dunn will perform on the ACC Awards, airing live from the Forum in Inglewood, California, May 1st at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Previously announced performers on the show include Luke Bryan, Cam, Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line and Carrie Underwood.

Finalists for the awards were announced in early April, with Luke Bryan's seven inclusions leading among all artists. Sam Hunt, Zac Brown Band and Thomas Rhett all also appear as finalists in multiple categories. The finalists and winners in each category are chosen based on data from the long-running American Country Countdown now hosted by none other than Kix Brooks. The American Country Countdown Awards, which effectively replaced Fox's short-lived American Country Awards, originally aired in mid-December 2014 and will return for its second installment after 16 months.
