Watch Carole King, James Taylor Talk Making of 'Tapestry' in New Doc Clip

Carole King and collaborators on her classic 1971 LP Tapestry recall the making of the album in an exclusive clip from American Masters — Carole King: Natural Woman, a new documentary airing February 19th on PBS. "The first thing that I envisioned with Carole was a solo artist that you always felt she was sitting at the piano and singing to you," recalls Tapestry producer Lou Adler, laying out the philosophy that guided the sessions.

The film features rare archival footage and interviews with King collaborators such as James Taylor, as well as a new, exclusive interview with King herself. Natural Woman covers King's Brooklyn upbringing, her career co-writing Sixties pop smashes such as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," her emergence as a solo singer-songwriter, the recent Broadway production Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and much more.

The premiere of Natural Woman comes just nine days after the 45th anniversary of Tapestry's release. See PBS.org for more info on the film.
