Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses Members to Perform Stooges Tribute

Four of Seattle's most prominent music figures will create a one-night only supergroup to pay tribute to Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses), Mark Arm (Mudhoney) and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees/Mad Season) will perform on the roof of Seattle's Pike Place Market on August 23rd.

The free concert celebrates the city's independent, non-profit radio station KEXP. The station will be raising funds for a new home in the Seattle Center by offering fans a chance to win a VIP experience to the show via fan donation. Around 50 winners will be chosen to attend a pre-show dinner with the musicians and attend the VIP after-party.

KEXP launched in 1972, one year before the Stooges released Raw Power. The Stooges had been broken up for a period before Raw Power's release, then parted ways once more. They reunited in 2003 and have released two more albums since then: 2007's The Weirdness and 2013's Ready to Die. Founding member and drummer Scott Asheton passed away last year from a heart attack.

The proto-punk act had a huge influence on both Seattle's grunge scene and metal acts like Guns N' Roses. Last year, when McKagan briefly reunited with his old band at a show in Argentina, G N' R blazed through a cover of the Stooges' "Raw Power."
