Foo Fighters' Quebec Concert Canceled Due to 'Mother Nature'

While a fractured leg couldn't keep Dave Grohl from finishing a concert, Mother Nature proved to be too powerful for the Foo Fighters. The band's Saturday night gig in Quebec City was canceled after 20 minutes due to severe weather that marred the performance. Grohl and company initially weathered the thunderstorm – "We're going to continue! We've come a long way to play this show," Grohl told the crowd early on – but safety concerns for Festival D'ete De Quebec's 75,000 attendees amid increasing lightning and heavy winds ultimately nixed the gig.

The Foo Fighters managed to play just four songs – "Everlong," "Monkey Wrench," "Learn to Fly" and "Something From Nothing" – before the showers chased the band – including the still-hobbled Grohl, who reportedly had to be removed by stagehands – from the stage, Life in Quebec reports. "It's just not safe! We've got to take a break," Grohl told the crowd. When the weather continued to pummel the festival grounds, causing flooding in neighboring areas, organizers had no choice but to cancel the concert entirely.

"Quebec City, we'll be back... Mother Nature always wins," Foo Fighters tweeted after the show was canceled. Weather permitting, the band's next gig will be July 13th in Camden, New Jersey.

Rolling Stone recently spoke to Grohl about the leg and ankle injuries that forced Foo Fighters to cancel as Glastonbury headliners and required the singer to perform atop a giant throne. While Grohl donned a purple cast when the band played their hometown 20th anniversary show July 4th in Washington, D.C., that has since been removed and replaced with a removable boot. Still, there's a long road ahead in Grohl's recovery.

"The broken bone is only part of my injury," Grohl said. "The other part of my injury is the ligaments and the cartilage is destroyed when I dislocated it. I had a physical therapist tell me the other day that it was basically like my ankle got into a 40 mile per hour car crash. It's not just like a sprained ankle; it's like an ankle that got its ass kicked by Ronda Rousey. It's just a matter of bringing it back to life, and I've always appreciated the challenges of life. I'm up for a challenge. I'll fucking take it. And this is a big one, but I'm in it to win it."
