Brandi Carlile Goes Unplugged for Fall Tour

Even with producers like Rick Rubin behind the board, Brandi Carlile's albums have never been able to fully contain the power of her raw, rugged voice. The studio microphones peak and distort during some of her louder songs, taking some of the punch out of her high notes. Maybe that's why the Americana singer-songwriter decided to abandon microphones altogether — along with amplifiers, instrument cables, stage monitors and pretty much anything else electric — for her upcoming fall tour.
